Who is responsible for War

Where do wars resonate from? And can any one individual be found guilty of raging war?

Many believe that since man has the freedom to choose, man is responsible for war. In the United States, the congress has the sole power to declare war. We nominate the representatives of our governing party but should the citizens be responsible for war and how will that idea of responsibility affect the actions we take? I think it depends because if the legislature is meeting the demands of the public, then the responsibility falls on the people.

However, if the government beings to inform the people of what they want then it can fall on the governing elite.
Do these elite members of society go after what the nation wants or do they attempt to sway the nation to have new desires?

The idea of propaganda is still used today and many fall to it’s enticing ability to mold one’s desires, but a man had to make this hogwash. We can conclude that man is responsible for war. It’s more of a matter of what the people decide and want so that the governing bodies are invested into the people. In my opinion, the people need to become more educated in terms of politics and legitimacy of their sources.

Join us in Room 3226 at 1 pm in Wolfson Campus as we discuss and debate: Should nations be held morally responsible for the war's they are involved in, or should only those with the power to declare war be held responsible?
